If you are building a new home from the ground up or buying one that already exists, you will eventually have to take on the task of decorating the inside of your new home. This can seem like a daunting task and is one which homeowners often wait until the last minute to address. They later regret not putting more time and effort into this aspect.

So, when is the perfect time to start planning your interior design and decor? The answer to this is simple; as soon as humanly possible. Once you see the inside of your home and know the layout, your brain should automictically start picturing hat you want it to look like. If you are building a home, that is great because you have many months to come up with a design scheme which fits you and your family perfectly.

From buying couches and beds to ordering premium rugs online, it’s never too early to start preparing for the move-in. Make a check list of large room-filling items first. Beds, couches, chairs, tables.. then move on to rugs, paintings, books, nicknacks and curtains. A checklist is a great idea for this process.

Stores like Home Depot, Lowe’s or even Amazon will help you fill in the gaps after the major items are already added. This is an exciting time, but it can also be very stressful. Spending an hour or two a week on home decor before you are able to move in will ease some of that stress from your life.

Don’t be afraid to enlist the help of your family or best friend to help making tough decisions. They will often be glad you asked for their advice. And if the interior of the home turns out to be ugly then you can always blame them later. I hope you detected the sarcasm in that last sentence. Humor can also help make stressful situations a little easier.

Remember, make a list of items you need for the interior of your home. Start with the big items and work your way down to the smallest. Do this often and early enough and you will be all ready for when it is time to actually move in.
